"Report this item" finally reaches UK
Links to "report this item" have just appeared on all listings on eBay UK. This feature was introduced on the Australian site many months ago; though promised to the UK, it had not been implemented until now.
This is a great step forward in eBay's attempts to clean up the site. eBay rely largely on users of the site to police it, and this will make reporting illegal and counterfeit items so much easier.
However, yet again a fairly major site change has gone unannounced by eBay. In the face of inevitable fears by sellers that easier reporting facilities will be used by rival sellers to try to remove the competition, eBay must put out some reassurance that they have the staff, and that the staff have the training, to ensure that this new feature is not used maliciously.

Here's hoping they CAN put out such reassurances...
Dear Biddy, that report this item link is really more fluff than being proactive. All that it does is conveniently go to the right support queue so they can ignore it by appropriate department. The majority of the listings that need a magnifying lens on them are the superstores and ebay wants you to report them until your fingers fall off. If they want us to keep doing their job for them, maybe I should put them down as my boss and give them my bill. Yet another tool made to throw down the little guy and make it more difficult to tackle the big crooks

Fruity, when you have as much to deal with as eBay CS (all those people demanding to have negs removed...), I think that's a massive step forward. Ditto not having to cut and paste dozens of item numbers if there is a lot to report: *that* actually makes it easier to report a big seller who has a lot of infringing listings.
